Be inspired

​

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I am the youngest of five and the only daughter of my parents.

A woman by the name of Otha who I refer to as "my second mom" helped raise me. She was a shining example of God's love, and she had a major impact on my life. I was born into a life of privilege. From the outside looking in, we were the all American family, but the family I grew up in was very dysfunctional. There was often verbal and emotional abuse, as well as controling behavior. My parents were gone often on business trips, and my brother and I were often left with nannies, babysitters, and various family members. I felt lonely at times and my unhealthy home life affected my self esteem and self worth.

 

My love for God began as a little child. Growing up, we attended church. I received Jesus as my Savior and was baptized. I felt an intimate bond with God, and our relationship was very special to me. As I grew older, with the instability of my home life and other challenges including bullying, sexual harassment, physical, emotional, and verbal abuse, depression, and anxiety, I was in and out of obedience to God and eventually pulled away from the Lord completely. I went to college, received my degree, and pursued a career in acting and singing.

Then, in 2006, I felt God drawing me back to Him. I rededicated my life to Jesus and was baptized in the Holy Spirit, which changed my life dramatically. I was sold out to God. Some friends and family did not understand my radical transformation, but I continued to pursue God and haven't stopped seeking more of Him.

 

In 2007 I met my husband, and we were married in 2008. Today we have two amazing children, a girl and a boy, and God has blessed our lives tremendously. Both my husband and I have served in lay leadership in various areas of ministry. I have served with my husband in youth ministry, as well as local outreach and missions, and I have served in women's and music ministry.

I am a stay at home mom, homeroom parent for my daughters preschool class, leader for my local MOPS group where I speak and share my bi weekly devotionals, and I am currently writing a book and beginning a home Bible study. God saved and restored my broken life by his amazing grace and He has blessed me abundantly. I am thankful daily for His love and faithfulness.
